Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a frequent reason for consultation in urology. ED is a permanent inability to obtain or maintain an erection sufficiently rigid for satisfactory sexual intercourse. It is an integral part of overall health status that should not be
neglected. To date, there are a number of treatment modalities for this scourge. The efficacy of the various treatment options are not always assured and the advent of penile prosthesis in recent years has restored a normal sexual life to such patients in industrialized countries.
For the first time, we report the installation of a hydraulic penile prosthesis performed in the Urology and Andrology Department of the Yaoundé Central Hospital, Cameroon in a young male with homozygous (SS) sickle cell disease with a history of veno-occlusive priapism complicated by complete fibrosis of the corpora cavernosa.
