Abstract

Strokes are a common and serious complication of cardiovascular disease. Early diagnosis combined with appropriate treatment within specified time frames reduces morbidity and mortality. We present the clinical case of a 59-year-old man presenting with sudden onset of right hemiparesis, in whom magnetic resonance imaging of the brain revealed a haematoma of the septum pellucidum, associated with a caudocapsular lacuna. The extremely rare location of this non-traumatic intracerebral haemorrhage and its association with cerebral ischaemia in a patient with normal blood pressure make this clinical case of particular interest.
