Introduction: Oral mucosal disorders remain poorly documented in Cameroon. The aim of this study was to describe their epidemiological and clinical profile in Yaoundé.
Methodology: This was a cross-sectional analytical study, conducted from November 2023 to June 2024 at the HGOPY and the Biyem-Assi District Hospital. All patients with an oral lesion were included. Data were analysed using SPSS 25.0 software. Statistical tests utilised the chi-square test, with a p-value of <0.05 considered statistically significant.
Results: A total of 385 patients were included, with a predominance of females (sex ratio 0.7). The 21–30 age group was the largest. The prevalence of oral mucosal pathologies was 30.6%. These were predominantly infections (42.4%). Smoking and dentures were the associated factors (p < 0.05).
Conclusion: Oral lesions are common and predominantly infectious. Smoking and dentures are major risk factors.
